Retirement Security

Corporate greed and irresponsibility at places like Enron, WorldCom and TYCO has caused tremendous harm to the stock market and to the retirement savings that millions of Americans have been counting on. The resultant decline in investor confidence along with the burst of the dot-com bubble has cost our nation’s pension funds a significant portion of their value. The Sheet Metal Workers International Association is currently working with allies in Congress to pass legislation aimed at stabilizing our nation’s pension system. At the same time, we are fighting for laws that will put a check on securities fraud in the Wall Street community.
