December 2, 2008: SMWIA Urges Aid for Auto Stimulus
The Sheet Metal Workers' International Association urges Congress and the White House to provide emergency financial assistance to the U.S. auto industry.
The SMWIA joins business and labor groups in calling for immediate action by Washington. Congress may consider this issue when it reconvenes next week.
“The auto industry is a backbone of the American economy. We must act quickly to help struggling workers, retirees, and families,” said Michael Sullivan, SMWIA General President and a member of the AFL-CIO Executive Council.
