The AFL-CIO and its community affiliate Working America will release the results of its sweeping online health care survey on Tuesday, June 23, lending real life voices to the current national dialogue on how best to repair our nation’s broken health care system. A staggering 24,460 people went online to answer questions about how the current economic crisis has affected their health care coverage, making the survey one of the largest data sets available on health care. People from all 50 states participated and over 6,000 people took the time to submit their personal and sometimes tragic experiences with our nation’s health care system.

The respondents include union members and those without unions, young and old, insured and uninsured. The results include intriguing trends around health care concerns, especially among the insured - - who say they are struggling to get the care they need at a price they can afford - - and among voters. The results are especially timely as Congress prepares to pass health care reform legislation.

“Our current system is broken and this survey shows how our fractured system hurts both the insured and uninsured alike,” said AFL-CIO Executive Vice President Arlene Holt Baker. “The time for real health care reform is now. We simply can’t wait any longer.”

Stay tuned for more information about this important report.
