The SMWIA strongly supports the advancement of education throughout the unionized section of the sheet metal industry to assure full participation in an expanding world economy.
Every year, the SMWIA awards union members and their families with $4,000 annual scholarships ($16,000 total) through the SMWIA Scholarship Fund and $2,000 per year scholarships through the SMWIA Scholarship Foundation. The scholarships are awarded based on each applicants academic achievement along with an essay they are required to write which is reviewed by a selecttion committee.
