On Friday, January 30th, President Barack Obama reversed three Bush-era anti-worker executive orders and created a Cabinet-level task force to rebuild the nation’s middle class. In a White House ceremony this morning attended by SMWIA General President Michael Sullivan and other union leaders, Obama signed three executive orders that reverse a series of orders by then-President George W. Bush.

The San Diego-Imperial Counties Building Trades Council secured a huge victory this week when the San Diego school board approved in principle the idea of using a project labor agreement (PLA) for school construction and repair work financed through a $2.1 billion bond measure that was approved by San Diego voters last November.
The school board vote was 3-2 in favor of crafting a PLA for this work.

The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) has released its 2009 Conservation Policy Agenda, which represents the consensus priorities of its wide-ranging partners. TRCP has also forwarded to the Obama Transition Team recommendations for approximately $9 billion in Habitat Stimulus construction projects that are estimated to create almost 170,000 jobs.
